New Issue of Building Women Magazine Available for Members

The latest edition of Building Women Magazine — available now to NAHB members — showcases career paths for women in the residential building industry, including that of 2026 Professional Women in Building (PWB) Chair Heather Laminack.

The daughter of a home builder, Laminack grew up learning about and working in the family business. From age nine all the way through college, her early experience evolved from filing paperwork to cleaning job sites, then working as an accounts payable clerk and later taking on office management. After graduating, she stepped into a general manager role and now is involved in every facet of Ferrier Homes, based in Fort Worth, Texas.

What ultimately cemented her passion for the industry was building her own home, which was the first LEED Platinum and NAHB NGBS Emerald-certified home in Texas. Taking on this responsibility sparked a love for designing high-performance, one-of-a-kind homes rooted in collaboration, innovation and craftsmanship, she says.

Now, she is serving as PWB chair, a title she is honored to have. “I was raised to plant roots and give back to the community, and that philosophy extends to my NAHB involvement as well,” said Laminack. “Not just show up and leave, but come ready to serve and help others.”

Laminack has held numerous industry leadership roles including but not limited to NAHB Young Professional Committee chair, NAHB Sustainability & Green Building Subcommittee chair and the first female president of the Greater Fort Worth Builders Association. She is ready to build on the foundation laid by past leaders while expanding opportunities for skill development, networking and industry presence.

“The opportunity to continue the PWB legacy has been a great honor,” she said. “We each bring a unique perspective and voice, and I hope mine helps further the movement and continue the momentum created by the leaders before me.”
